new forum topics minor updates
ElizabethCFS says:
I just installed the forums module, and I noticed that new topics are coded as "minor updates" in the recent changes. Is there any way to make them regular updates? I'm concerned people won't notice them.
Thanks!

Elizabeth,
Yes, I've noticed that happening sometimes on this site as well. The topic page is actually hidden - not a Minor Edit. I've got a small tweak I can make to your site's Forum module that will fix this until the change makes it into version 1.5 of the Forum Module.
Cheers,
Matt

Elizabeth,
If there's a specific site you'd like this change made to, let me know the EditMe site name and I can make it for you.
Cheers,
Matt

Oops - forgot I hadn't mentioned it in my post. It's http://lauferplaybook.editme.com.

OK - I've made this change. It will only apply to topics and replies going forward. Let me know if it doesn't work.

It appears that new replies to forum topics are now being added at the bottom of the page rather than the top. Can you switch that back?
Thanks!

Not sure what happened there, but should be working the same as before now.

Thanks, Matt, but they're still being added at the bottom of the list instead of the top. Can you check again?
Thanks!

Elizabeth,
Can you provide a link to the page you're looking at? I want to make sure we're talking about the same thing here. You can email it to support if you like.
Cheers,
Matt

No problem, Matt - it's here.
If you look at the first two responses, the first one (Eric's, posted at 12:38 am on 10/22) was pushed down by my colleague's (posted by CFS at 10:47 am on 10/22). When you went in to make it so new topics and replies weren't coded as minor updates (thanks again!), new responses started showing up at the bottom and working down (starting with Martin on 10/26).
Looking at the topic as a whole, I actually like the new replies appearing at the bottom so it's easier to read as a whole thread in order. I just want to make sure that when the next version of the Forums module is released and I update this site, the order new replies appear isn't reversed.
Does that make sense?

Just thought of this - could this somehow be related to time zones? Eric is on the west coast.

Elizabeth,
I think you may be confusing the topic list page with individual topic pages. The topic list page (the one listing all the topics in a forum) lists new topics at the top. Individual topic pages list replies beneath the original topic post, and all replies go at the bottom. That hasn't changed - it's how the Forum module has always worked. Looking at that page, the topics are in the correct order with the original at the top and replies added to the bottom.

I'm definitely confused, Matt. :o)
So is the time on Eric's reply wrong? It says 12:38 am and it's after a comment at 10:47 am on the same day.
I originally thought the replies posted top-down, but after seeing the times on those two, I thought they were bottom-up.
Thanks for your patience in explaining this!

I see what you're talking about now. It's likely that comment was posted at 12:38pm, not am but is being formatted incorrectly. I'll log that as a bug.
