_PagesByDate - display pages with earliest date first

Forums / Suggestions

sbridewell says:

We're using the Blog module to manage both news of things which have happened in the past and notices of things which are due to happen in the future.

We use syntax along the lines of [[include:_PagesByDate root=WhateverParent limit=5 excerpts=yes]] on the home page to display summaries of the latest news and the upcoming events. The only problem is that this displays the upcoming events in reverse order, i.e. those furthest in the future first, when really we want the most imminent event displayed first.

My suggestion is to add a parameter to this script to control the order in which the pages are included - default to newest first, but allow us to specify that oldest pages should be displayed first if we want.

Thanks for your feedback, Simon. The Blog module scripts can be customized at the site level if you or someone on your team has programming chops. EditMe can also provide this service. Essentially, we can install the _PageByDate script on your site as an editable page and do whatever you want with it. Let me know if that's of interest.

Cheers,
Matt

I've got a few days off work now so I'm willing to have a stab at making this change myself. Can you make this page editable on scan.editme.com please?

Thank you, I've made the change and it's all working as we'd like now. Turned out to be quite a simple change once I'd refreshed my javascript knowledge Smile
