Notifications

I assume you're aware of EditMe's change notifications. This is a good way to keep multiple editors informed of what they're doing.
Regarding "needs altering", this is just a matter of convention. You could create a page in the Menu called Needs Altering and make pages you want seen there children of that page using the Organize tab. Or you could include NeedsAltering in the content of pages you want altered and use a link to a search for that (just search for NeedsAltering and copy the URL).
