blog template
I've had some users get confused when they are linked to a specific entry from a blog - because blog entries are child pages of the blog parent, which is not in the menu, they can't easily see where to find other entries from the same blog. The page looks like an orphan.
I've modified the templates for blogs on my sites with "Click here to return to the main blog" links above the page date. Would it make sense to include that in the standard blog entry template?

Elizabeth,
It does make sense to include a link back to the main blog page from each post. The reason it's not in the default template is that if you choose to include the complete content of each post on your blog page, you'd have that link repeated in each post, which wouldn't make sense. So the thought was that allowing this to be customized within the blog template would be more flexible. If your blog is linked to significantly within the site's layout there should always be a link to the blog.
As you can see in a post at editme.com, this blog template was significantly customized to include a full right-column navigation element in each post.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the response, Matt!
I never thought about that - I use excerpts instead of full entries on the main page, so that wouldn't be an issue for me.
