upgrading customized edit forms
What is the best approach to convert to the new edit screen for those of us who are using a customized version of the old edit form? Is there any way to put up the new form somewhere on our site where we can work on it before we make the switch for real?

Maxwell,
I'll be posting an article to the blog next week that explains how to customize the new edit form. Unlike the old Edit form, you'll have more flexibility and control over it. For example, you'll be able to turn on and off your custom version of the form, and you'll be able to add additional tabs to the editing interface.
That said, there isn't any way to simultaneously have multiple edit forms on one site. If you have development to do and don't want to disrupt your site, I would suggest creating a temporary site and using that as a development/staging area.
Cheers,
Matt

Will I be able to retain my old customized comment form but upgrade to the new edit form?

Maxwell,
Yes, the Edit form and the Comment forms are not connected.
