| 9/6/05 | The ability to email a comment to a page would be awesome. [Admin] Doug, thanks for the input. Emailing content into the site is actually on our to do list... don't have a schedule for you yet, but it's "in the wings". | DougN |
| 9/6/05 | I'm using the Brighton Blue Left skin on our corporate intranet (powered by EditMe). I *love* the ability to show / hide the toolbar on the right. Hiding it adds valuable horizontal real estate to the page. And I find I don't need most of the menu items that often... except, of course, for "Page > Edit" which I'm clicking all the time. It would be nice if this one item (Edit Page) were available even when the toolbar on the right was closed. That way I could do 80% of what I want in EditMe with the toolbar closed, and only open it up when I need to add an attachment, change the site settings, etc. [Admin] Check out www.editme.com - it has a custom XSL stylesheet that puts the "Edit" link at the bottom of each page. Open up a help desk ticket - we can help you put an Edit link elsewhere on your site. | DougN |
| 9/6 | After looking at Atlassian, wikispaces, JotSpot, SocialText, Kwiki, Zwiki, and Perspective, I found EditMe which is perfect. Not only is it easy to use, has an Index that actually works, has a fast obvious way to add comments, but it also has user controls and email changes! Ya'll have done a great job. Thanks. [Admin] Glynn, thanks for your kind words. I've added your comments to our testimonials page. Let me know if that's OK. Thanks again! | Glynn |
| 9/3 | The new TinyMCE html editor is very slow to download - for this reason I preferred the old HTMLarea. How about an option to use the ultra-simple Wikiwyg, when that becomes more stable? [Admin] Chris, we are certainly keeping an eye on Wikiwyg - it shows promise. Unfortunately, as you state, it's quite unstable, and using it would cause EditMe to lose more than 80% of it's editing features. We find the current editor takes about 5-10 seconds to load the first time, but after that it loads almost instantly (as it's cached). If you're seeing slow performance every time it loads, check your browser's cache settings. | Chris |
| 8/1 | "I have my wiki set up at wiki.MYDOMAIN.net, but when people subscribe to it, they get a notification re: recent changes to MYSITE.editme.com, which they are likely to find confusing! Any way to fix this?"" | Todd on behalf of user |
| 7/2 | "It would be very helpful to be able to see in a big list all the attachments in a site so over-large ones could be spotted and deleted." | Todd on behalf of user |
| 6/6/05 | I think the editor needs much improving. There are problems with iframe tags, and strange behaviors came up unexpectedly. Is there no alternative? [Admin] As of 7/12 the editor has been replaced with an all new editor. IFRAME tags and complex javascripts can now be handled using plain-text edited pages and include tags. See this FAQ entry. | Josep Ortega |
| 5/24/05 | Several users have asked for a spell checker. Give Google Toolbar a try. It provides a convenient spell check that works well with EditMe's rich text editor. | Admin |
| 23 May 05 | [Liz] Spam avoidance using Javascript: I am very reluctant to include email addresses unprotected from spambots on public pages and the best protection (as I understand it) uses Javascript, eg. http://www.innerpeace.org/escrambler.shtml as opposed to http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html for instance. (This tool will help to determine whether protection is working, http://www.dreamweaverfever.com/experiments/spam/default.asp) If Javascript is not going to be a possibility, can anyone suggest another way of doing this? (I don't understand Javascript and tried saving the Escrambler code as a .js file and linking to it, but it didn't work). It is important that I include email addesses as contact details on public pages, so I hope someone can help :) [Admin] This could be accomplished using the plain-text page and include method described here. | |
| 2005-05-02 | Concerning the below (from even further below)... From David Ellsworth/dellsworth [12.222.20.76] - 2004-04-24 9:58 AM Really need the ability to change the order of comments, like have the newest first on the page rather than last. Why is last in last on the page the default? David Ellsworth dellsworth@insightbb.com. [Admin] 7/12 Update - this can now be done by customizing your site's XSL stylesheet. If you're not familiar with XSL, hit up the help desk - they can help you get this working. | Nelson |
| 2005-05-02 | one or both of the following: 1. A button that shows all pages of a given permission 2. A way to say "change all pages with permission A to permission B" | Todd |
| 2005-05-02 | The "remember me" feature should work to extend the session when using the editor. Currently it seems to work for the whole site except when posting from the editor after the session has timed out. [Admin] This feature has been implemented. Thanks for the suggestion! | A user |
| 2005-04-22 | [Liz] When inserting a hyperlink it would be nice to have the option to "open in new window" rather than have to edit the html for the page. [Admin] This can now be done using the new editor. Like this! [Admin] This can now be done by editing the site's XSL layout. Use the help desk if you need help with this. We're actively developing new layouts that will be easier to customize using just the CSS Stylesheet. This is now possible using the new "include" tag. See this FAQ entry for details. | Liz |
| 2005.03.20 | [chris] There are a number of suggestions below about specific security authorizations for different pages. It's true that each page can have customized access for public/registered/admin, but there's no ability to have different classes of registered users. [Admin] Heard loud and clear - User Groups and Sections are in the development plan. [Admin] This is now possible. See this FAQ entry. | Chris Huson |
| 2005.01.29 | RSS widget to display external RSS feeds within the site | survey form |
| 2005.01.29 | Implement this to help stop wiki spammers. | survey form |
| 2005.01.29 | From a question on the Questions page... A wiki-ish way to create in-page anchor links, since the editor doesn't support this. Something like [[name: SomeName]] to create an anchor and then [[#SomeName]] or [[PageName#SomeName]] to link to it. [Admin] While it's not too wiki-ish, the new editor now supports the creation of Anchor tags. Just click the button that looks like: | admin |
| 2005.01.10 | It would be nice if a wiki with a branded domain name did not display "editme" in each of its pages (e.g., www.myurl.editme.com/whateverpage) and within the help section. Companies that use editme to create branded sites for use outside the organization would like their site to appear as though it was developed in-house. [admin] While there isn't much we can do about the help, you can absolutely have a custom domain name (www.yourdomain.com) point to your site without any mention of EditMe.
