Registrations

Use the Registrations section of Site Settings to specify how users are created on your site. Allowing users to register on your site enables public users to become Registered users, which may have special permissions to edit and/or create pages depending on the settings you have specified in the Site Security settings section, or for individual pages that over-ride these settings.

Private Registrations specifies that only site administrators can create registered users using the Users section of the Site Settings. Anonymous visitors to your site will not be able to self-register.

Public Registrations specifies that anonymous users can click Register on your site to self-register. Administrators can still create and manage registered users using the Users section of Site Settings.

Moderated Registration specifies that anonymous users can click Register on your site to self-register, but won't be granted access to the site until an administrator approves their registration. An email will be sent to all administrators of the site notifying them that a user has registered. An administrator must then edit the user using the Users section of Site Settings and change the user's Type from Locked to Registered. When this is done, an email will be sent automatically to the user notifying them that their registration has been accepted.

A text area below the Moderated Registration option allows specification of email addresses that will allow registration without moderation. These users must instead confirm that they own the email address they provided by clicking a confirmation link in an email sent to them after registering. Clicking this link will activate their account automatically.

List email addresses, one per line, of users who will be automatically approved when they register. This feature is useful if you have a list of users you want to invite to the site for self-registration without having to create each user.

Checking the Registration Notifications checkbox causes an email to be sent to all administrators of the site whenever a new user self-registers. This notification is not sent if a Moderated Registration notification is sent instead.

Customize the Registration Form

You can provide customized instruction and help for registering on your site by creating a page named RegistrationFormHelp. Whatever content is in this page will be displayed automatically at the top of your site's Registration form. To protect your site from vandalism, this page must be set to Administrator Read/Administrator Edit on the Advanced tab of the editing screen before it will show up on your Registration page.
