Page Templates
Page templates are special pages in your EditMe site that can be used as starting points for new pages on your site. For example, if you have a recipe site and want all the recipes posted to share a common layout, you can use a template to guide users while entering their recipe. You can make templates for blog entries, calendars, reviews, or anything else you can think of. Templates can also be used to set defaults for most of the other Page Properties.
Every EditMe site starts with a template called "Default". This is just a blank page to start, but you can edit the content. After logging in, click on the Templates link in the system menu. This lists all of your sites templates and provides links to edit their content.
Note: Since templates are not normal pages, EditMe does not list them in search results or the site's Index.
You can make new templates simply by creating a new page and not specifying a title. Any page without a title is considered a template, except for the Menu page. Choose the page name for your templates carefully, as this is what will be displayed in the dropdown of templates on the New Page screen.
Note: There has been some confusion on the difference between a Template and a Style Sheet. In general you'd use a Template if you wanted every new page (that used that template) to have a picture of your logo at the bottom, or a certain table, or a copyright - templates denote structure and content. If you wanted the copyright to be a 2pt font you'd control this using CSS Style Sheets - style sheets denote formating. Please see the Styles help page for more information on how to use Style Sheets.
