Page Relationships: the Organize tab

The Organize tab in the editing screen allows pages to be associated with each other in parent/child relationships. These relationships can be used in a variety of ways, including site navigation and for grouping related pages.

The Organize tab manages the list of parent pages and child pages for the current page being edited. You can view relationships from the perspective of any page listed by clicking the >> link.

Page relationships are stored with the parent page, such that any change to a page relationship creates a new version of the parent page. For this reason, you must have at least Edit access to a Parent page and at least View access to a child page in order to create or delete a relationship.

To add a new Parent or Child relationship, start typing the Page Name of the page you want to relate in the text box in either section (Parent Pages or Child Pages). You'll see suggested page names appear beneath the text box. Select one and click the Add button. To remove a relationship, click the Remove link next to the parent you want to remove.

Child pages can be given a specific order by dragging and dropping pages in the list of child pages.

Note that changes to parent relationships take effect immediately, while changes to child pages are not saved until you click the Save Child Pages button (which will appear if there are changes made). This is to minimize the number of page versions created when managing child pages.

See Include Scripts for a list of ways these relationships can be displayed on your site.
