The General Settings section allows you to change the Title and Default Page of your site.
The Title controls the text that displays in the browser's title bar as people browse your site. This text will also display in search engines that link to your page. It should be brief, but descriptive. By default, the title is set to your account name.
The Default Page controls which page EditMe uses as the default. For example, if MyPage is set as your default page, EditMe will display the page named "MyPage" page when you browse to http://YourAccount.EditMe.com. The default value is Home.
The Default Domain specifies the domain EditMe uses for links to the site in email notifications. If you have a custom domain and want users to enter your site using that domain, enter that domain here. Note that entering a domain here does not make your site respond to that domain. See Custom Domains for details on configuring a custom domain.
The Admin Email specifies the email address EditMe will send email notifications from. You may want to enter an address here that will allow users to reply to email notifications.
The SSL Encryption dropdown is documented on its own page.
The Site Keywords Meta Tag field should contain a comma-separated list of keywords and phrases relevant to your site. Use this for optimizing search engines. Do not add any double-quote (") characters here, or you could corrupt your site. This value will be truncated to 255 characters.
The Site Description Meta Tag field should contain a brief description of your site. Use this for optimizing search engines. Do not add any double-quote (") characters to this value, or you could corrupt your site. This value will be truncated to 255 characters.
You can view the source of any page of your site after setting either of the Meta Tag settings. Look for <meta name="description" content="..."> and <meta name="keywords" content="..."> in the HTML source. Search engines use these tags to index your site.
Check the Show EditMe Tools Menu by Default box to display the EditMe tools links on the right side of the screen. By default, users will see the EditMe tools links on your site when they visit. If most visitors to your site won't use these, you can hide them by default by unchecking this box.
Check the Enable Double-Click Editing checkbox to allow users to edit the current page by double-clicking anywhere in the browser. This can be a convenient shortcut if you choose to hide your Tools Menu and edit pages frequently. If your site was created before October 2005, you will need to re-apply your site's Skin to make this work.
