What are the solution for change in characters when saving a mail?

Q: I have noticed that backslash characters () disappear when saving a page, if I type three backslashes in a rows, one is displayed but it is lost on subsequent edits. Also, multiple spaces and tabs get replaced by just one space on subsequent edits.

A: If you change from "Normal" to "Formatted" text (upper left "Style" pulldown that also selects Heading 1 through Heading 6) then the spaces will be preserved. Depending upon your browser, tabs may take you out of the editor window, and depending upon your visitor's browsers they may not see the tabs.
