Can I upload files to my sites root folder?
Yes. This is sometimes needed for the purposes of creating a custom robots.txt file, uploading a Google Site Map, or placing a particular file there to prove to some remote service that you're the site's administrator.
Here's how:
- Log into your site as an Administrator.
- Create a page named RootAttachments.
- Set the Page Security of this page to Administrator View / Administrator Edit. Any other setting will not work.
- Save the page.
Any file you attach to this page will be placed into your site's root folder and will be publicly viewable. For example, if you attach a file named test.txt to this page, you'll be able to access it at http://YOURSITE.editme.com/test.txt.
Likewise, deleting an attachment from this page will remove it from your site's root.
